“Oh, jingle bells, jingle bellsmerry christmas
jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
in a one horse open sleigh..”

This was the most favorite song of the Christmas of my childhood. Though very few people (only Christian families in our neighborhood) used to celebrate Christmas, I always had this fantasy to celebrate this very joyful occasion and this year it did come true… yes! We celebrated Christmas at our home 🙂 Believe me you, it feels amazing decorating the Christmas tree with the cute ornaments, tiny li’l gifts, candy canes & jingle bells and it looks so wonderful with the clear, twinkling lighting and Christmas stocking with gifts for everyone underneath the tree. The smell of baked X’mas cookies coming from neighboring houses suggests that Christmas is near and no doubt why everybody prays “Let it snow…” as only the snow can make the whole atmosphere Christemasse!

We had a small Christmas celebration at our home with friends. During the party, one of my friend’s 10 year old asked me, “Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says, “If you see it in the Sun, it’s so.” Please tell me the truth, is there a Santa Claus?”

I told her that her little friends are wrong. Yes, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and we know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! How dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus! There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies. Nobody sees Santa Claus, but there is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but there is no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine that all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world. No Santa Claus! Thank God! He lives and lives forever. A thousand years from now, nay 10 times 10,000 years from now, he will continue to spread love, joy, peace and happiness around the world and make glad the heart of childhood.

Wish you all a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Shruti 🙂
