FOSS.IN/2007 Event

FOSS.IN is one of the world’s largest FOSS events, held annually in India. The event is highly focused on FOSS development and contribution. Over the years, it has attracted thousands of participants, and the speaker roster reads like a “Who’s Who” of FOSS(Free and Open Source Software) event contributors from across the world.

Yesterday we visited FOSS Event at IISC, Bangalore.
In FOSS many BOFs (Dictionary meaning- Birds Of Feather is a shortening of the proverb “birds of a feather flock together”) meaning that people (birds) of the same kind or interest (of a common feather) enjoy spending time (flocking) together. BOF Sessions were arranged in semi-open tents equipped with wireless LAN, power and whiteboards. Many geeks showcased their products and gave seminars. They were sharing their knowledge and features of their application, showing keen interest in other BOF’s applications as well.

It was very exciting as we demonstrated Ajuby in BOF. We rocked the BOF Event by our presentation. Know More?

It was a marvelous experience attending this Great Open source Event.

We attended a Testing Tool “SAHI” seminar conducted by Mr. Narayan Raman.
His seminar was really informative and made us aware of the latest Automation Testing Tool in the market- SAHI.
SAHI is an automation and testing tool for web applications, with the facility to record and playback scripts. Developed in java and java script, this tool uses simple java script to execute events on the browser. Features include, in-browser controls, text based scripts, ant support for playback of test suites, reporting, HTTP & HTTPS Support and multi threaded playback.

SAHI runs as a proxy server and the browser needs to use the SAHI server as its proxy. SAHI then injects java script so that it can access elements in the web page. This makes the tool independent of the website/ web application.
SAHI is released under the Apache License (Version 2.0)
